Award-winning composer Joel Douek’s work spans from orchestral epics to cutting-edge electronica, and the fusion of both. His music has appeared in hundreds of TV episodes, major documentary specials, as well as numerous films and other commercial projects.

Joel’s recent scores include Discovery Channel’s Shark Week main feature, Ocean of Fear, and the Italy and France films from their pioneering high-definition ATLAS series. Other major TV documentaries include the BAFTA-nominated Munich: Mossad’s Revenge, Adventure Bhutan, Apollo 13, Egypt's New Tomb and it’s sequel King Tut's Mystery Tomb, Apollo 11: The Untold Story, Animal Planet’s War Of The Birds, and National Geographic’s The Secret Reign Of Herod, among many others. Recent TV projects include the WB11 blockbuster Japanimation Yu-Gi-Oh, which has been airing worldwide for six consecutive years, and the current Fox TV show Chaotic. Also on Fox, Joel scored the popular cartoons The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ultimate Muscle, Shaman King, Sonic X and F-Zero. On the commercial side, Joel has written the music for national spots such as, Verizon, Ford, K-Mart, Old Navy, L’Oreal and Mastercard.

His film scores include the Animé hit Yu-Gi-Oh! - The Movie (Warner Brothers), The Reunion (PBS, Winner Avignon/New York, First Run and California Independent Film Festivals); As The Call, So The Echo - An American Doctor in Vietnam (PBS), A Moment Of Clarity (Independent Film Channel) and Rocks With Wings (BBC, PBS, HBO Documentary Feature Prize).

Joel was awarded the 2004 Song Of The Year Contest for his work with Karin Brennan on the song King's X. Joel’s album credits include Duel Madness (Dreamworks Records), Zohar 137 (Pagan Records/ BMG-Wicklow: Deep Roots & Future Grooves), Step Into The Light (Candid Records), as well as the Latin Mambo remix of Destiny’s Child’s Lose My Breath.

Joel is a member of the Society for Composers and Lyricists, the Game Audio Network Guild, and is a Core Member of the Manhattan Producers Alliance. Joel is originally from London, and lives in New York City.
